Tips I Follow When Antiquing
Nook and Fern is a handmade and curated shop. The curated section consists of vintage and antique finds that I source from all over the east coast. While out sourcing some places can be overwhelming from the size or even the amount of treasures, here are a few tips that I follow.
Don’t be afraid to dig through and uncover something that may be covered. (ask if you need a hand and make sure its okay to move a few things)
Take the item away that has caught your eye to a spot that you can really see it, removed from clutter.
If you don’t like the color or finish it can be changed, reimagine the find.
Don’t forget to look up! Many antique centers, barn sales, and flea market tents, things are hanging above.
Vintage and antique frames are a great way to add character to photos and artworks. Look past what may be framed.
Walk around and walk around again, and again. I often do many laps discovering something new each time.
Especially at barn sales and flea markets wear layers, closed toe shoes, and have a way of transporting your treasures. I have collapsible wagon I bring to flea markets.
Most importantly, have fun. Sometimes I find nothing but the thrill of heading out and possibly finding treasure is always exciting.
