Editorial Policy

This page explains how Nook & Fern selects its topics, prepares its content, creates its visuals, and strives to maintain a useful, transparent, and independent publication.

Last updated: September 8, 2026

Our editorial mission

Nook & Fern is an independent publication dedicated to the home, interior design, layout and outdoor spaces.

Our goal is to offer ideas and resources that allow readers to explore different possibilities for their spaces, better understand certain design choices, and find inspiration they can adapt to their own situation.

We prioritize content that provides real value to the reader rather than content created solely to attract traffic or capitalize on a trend.

How we choose our topics

Topics can be selected from common home-related questions, layout issues, design ideas, relevant trends, or practical needs identified in the areas we cover.

We may also be interested in products, materials, techniques or solutions when they present a potential interest to our readers.

The popularity of a topic can contribute to our decision to cover it, but it is not our only criterion. We primarily seek to determine whether we can offer a truly useful perspective, explanation, or presentation.

Research and preparation of articles

Before publishing an article, we seek to understand the subject and verify important information from appropriate sources.

Depending on the subject, this research may include: manufacturer documentation, technical information, specialized publications, institutional sources, or other relevant references.

Where relevant, we seek to distinguish verifiable facts from aesthetic preferences, interpretations, and creative suggestions.

The sources used may vary depending on the nature of the article. When an important statement requires a specific reference, we may cite or link directly to the relevant source.

Creation of our visuals

A significant part of Nook & Fern's editorial identity relies on creating original visuals to illustrate and explore the ideas presented in our content.

We can use design and 3D visualization tools to build conceptual spaces, experiment with materials, colors, lighting, room layout, or different configurations.

Unless otherwise stated, a conceptual visualization should not be interpreted as a photograph of an existing house or as a presentation of a project actually built or completed by Nook & Fern.

These visuals are intended to facilitate the exploration and understanding of an idea. They do not constitute architectural plans or technical documents.

We explain this process more precisely on our page How we create our visuals .

Products and recommendations

Some articles may feature, compare, or recommend products related to the home, garden, decoration, or topics we cover.

A recommendation may be based on an analysis of characteristics, specifications, materials, dimensions, features, price, available documentation, or other criteria relevant to the subject.

The presence of a product on Nook & Fern does not automatically mean that we have purchased or personally tested it.

When we have direct experience with a product, we try to make that clear. Similarly, we avoid presenting documentary research as a practical test.

Affiliation and editorial independence

Nook & Fern may receive a commission through certain affiliate links found in its content.

The possibility of receiving a commission should not, on its own, determine our assessment of a product or the conclusion of an article.

We seek to maintain a separation between the commercial considerations of the site and the information or recommendations presented to the reader.

For more information, consult our affiliate disclosure .

Sponsored content and collaborations

If Nook & Fern publishes content that is the subject of compensation, a commercial partnership, or another form of collaboration that may influence the reader's perception, we seek to clearly identify this relationship.

A commercial collaboration should not be presented as completely independent editorial content when a relevant commercial relationship exists.

Technological tools and support for creation

We can use various digital tools to facilitate certain stages of research, organization, design, production or revision of our content.

L'utilisation d'un outil ne remplace pas notre responsabilité éditoriale. Les contenus publiés sous notre nom restent soumis à notre sélection, notre révision et nos décisions éditoriales.

Using a tool does not replace our editorial responsibility. Content published under our name remains subject to our selection, review, and editorial decisions.

Accuracy and up-to-dateness

We aim to publish information that is as accurate and useful as reasonably possible at the time of publication.

However, some information may change. Prices, availability, product features, recommendations, standards, or other elements may change after the publication of an article.

When relevant, we may update articles to correct outdated information or improve their usefulness.

Corrections

If we discover that important information published on Nook & Fern is incorrect, we seek to correct it within a reasonable timeframe after becoming aware of it.

Minor corrections to typography, wording, or presentation can be made without a specific note.

When a correction significantly alters the meaning, conclusions, or important information of an article, we may add a note to make the change transparent to the reader.

Report an error

Despite the care taken with our content, an error can still occur.

If you believe you have identified incorrect information or information that requires clarification, we encourage you to send us the relevant details so that we can review them.
